Richard Cutshall is a Mexican American artist/educator who works in the mediums of drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and a K-12 Art Education certification from Pittsburg State University and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting from the University of Arkansas. He has taught in higher education for 25+ years and is currently the Renshaw Distinguished Visiting Professor at ÃÛѨÊÓƵ, where he teaches painting, drawing and printmaking and also serves as the ÃÛѨÊÓƵ Gallery Curator. His vast exhibition record includes over 100 group and solo shows, both nationally and internationally. Richard’s artwork is included in numerous private and public collections throughout the world.
Some of Richard’s earliest memories involve art and he vividly remembers drawing from an early age; using it as a way to understand the sometimes-frightening aspects of the world around him. Today that use of art as a tool to gain understanding continues with Cutshall describing his work as “a kind of self-exorcism.”
Mr. Cutshall currently resides in Portland with his wife, fellow artist/curator Jennifer Gillia Cutshall, and their very large dog and two cats. Together, they co-manage 3 Spirits Studio
