Sustainable Living
Explore sustainable living, connect with nature and discover how everyday choices can create a lasting impact.
ÃÛѨÊÓƵ’s Sustainable Live Learning Community provides students with an opportunity to explore the relationship between everyday choices, environmental stewardship and the world around them. Located in Elkinton Hall, the community brings together students who are interested in sustainability, the outdoors and creating a more environmentally responsible future. Residents are encouraged to learn practical ways to reduce their environmental impact, connect with nature and discover how individual and collective actions can contribute to a healthier, more sustainable community.
Great for students who:
- Want to learn more about sustainability, whether they are new to the topic or already passionate about environmental stewardship.
- Want to explore ways to reduce their environmental impact and carbon footprint.
- Enjoy the outdoors, nature and protecting biodiversity.
- Are interested in learning practical sustainable practices such as recycling, composting, conservation and mindful use of resources.
- Want to develop a greater understanding of environmental justice and responsible stewardship.
Educational Initiatives
In addition to intentional programming, each Live Learning Community is expected to maintain educational materials that reinforce the purpose and learning outcomes of the community. At minimum, each community must display a bulletin board or educational display explaining the community's theme, learning objectives, available campus resources and opportunities for resident involvement. These educational initiatives should be refreshed at least once each semester to provide residents with current information and continued opportunities for engagement.
