Wellness and Substance Free Living
For students who are interested in engaging in conversations and activities that promote and sustain healthy lifestyles
ÃÛѨÊÓƵ’s Wellness Community provides students with a supportive environment to explore holistic wellbeing and develop habits that support a healthy, balanced life. Located in Frerichs Hall, the community recognizes that wellness extends beyond physical health and includes six dimensions: emotional, financial, intellectual, physical, social and spiritual wellness. Residents are encouraged to explore what wellness means to them through self-awareness, healthy habits, mindfulness, nutrition, exercise, mental health, meaningful relationships and substance-free living. As a substance-free community, Frerichs Hall provides an environment where residents choose to live without alcohol, marijuana and other prohibited substances in their living community, supporting students who want their residential environment to align with their wellness goals.
Great for students who:
- Want to explore wellness as a whole-person experience, beyond physical health.
- Are interested in developing healthy habits, self-awareness and lifelong wellness practices.
- Prefer a substance-free living environment that supports healthy choices and personal wellness.
- Want to explore the six dimensions of wellness and how they influence one another.
- Value a community that supports mental, emotional, physical, social, intellectual, financial and spiritual well-being.
- Want to connect with peers who are interested in creating a balanced, healthy and supportive living environment.
Educational Initiatives
In addition to intentional programming, each Live Learning Community is expected to maintain educational materials that reinforce the purpose and learning outcomes of the community. At minimum, each community must display a bulletin board or educational display explaining the community's theme, learning objectives, available campus resources and opportunities for resident involvement. These educational initiatives should be refreshed at least once each semester to provide residents with current information and continued opportunities for engagement.
